Trip to Mexico

So what do you guys think about this - a Heward Family Trip to Mexico. I was thinking something simple and fun. I know that Mark and Caroline will be going next month (in May), but I think that it would be fun to go as a family. If you want to take your kids now is the time, because in a couple of months newborns and infants will even need a passport to get back into the United States. If we wait too much longer Jen and Caroline will have new borns and won't be able to travel much. I think that it would be fun, and a simple quick weekend trip. What do you guys think about it? Here are some pictures to get you excited.

I think that we should just do it. It will be short fun and memorable. What can be better than good memories?

I think it would be a lot of fun. I just don't know how we'll find a time that we all can go. but if we can I am up for it.

Go for it shelly. We did that a year ago. No one told us there were pregnancy restrictions. We thought if Ashley's Dr. said it was o.k., then we were good to go. Nope. Can't go if you're past 20 weeks. They were denied boarding at the dock. So that part was a bummer. The rest of the family had a great time!

Ryan, you are one for great, spontaneous ideas! But for this to happen for the fam, I think that we would need to plan ahead. But I love to vacation, and I love Mexico and I love to dream....

It looks like we have a few more months if we want to make a plan for this! Here's information about passport requirements.

Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (Areas: Canada, Mexico, Caribbean region, Bermuda)
AIR TRAVEL: ALL PERSONS traveling by air outside of the United States are required to present a passport or other valid travel document to enter or re-enter the United States.
LAND AND SEA TRAVEL: The following summarizes information available on the Department of Homeland Security’s website.
• CURRENTLY:
U.S. citizens need to present either (a) a passport, passport card (available in spring 2008), or WHTI-compliant document; or (b) a government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license, along with proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate.
• LATER:
On June 1, 2009, the U.S. government will implement the full requirements of the land and sea phase of WHTI. The proposed rules require most U.S. citizens entering the United States at sea or land ports of entry to have a passport, passport card, or WHTI-compliant document. (In Arizona in September 2008 you will be able to get a 3-in-1 enhanced drivers license that can be used for land travel only. It will have a 5-year expiration. I don’t know if it has been approved by the legislature or not….)
